HAUNTED LAUNDRY

Church! and the Haunted Laundry is an independent feature-length film that was produced in the small town of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin from late 2023-early 2024. It is a “true indie” movie- completely self-financed, written, and directed by Oconomowoc native Calvin Zimmerman.

“When he’s enlisted by a coworker/frenemy to help track down a disappeared relative, 16 year old Christian House (affectionately known to his friends as ‘Church’) must bring the missing girl home, or risk losing his job at the (possibly haunted,) local laundromat.”

16-year-old Christian House, affectionately known to his friends as "Church," has just been fired from his job at the local laundromat. He's desperate to change the mind of his boss, the laundromat’s owner, Sloane Landry, not because he particularly values his job or even his paycheck, but because he has a thing for one of his coworkers - Sloane's adopted son, Penn. An opportunity to get on their good side presents itself when Penn's sister Louise vanishes into thin air, and Penn turns to Church for help - convinced Louise's disappearance, and other strange happenings about town, are somehow connected.

A trail of bloody bandages, laundry with clairvoyant properties, and a well-respected Priest caught in a series of bizarre lies are no match for our young heroes, determined to solve this mystery. However, things come to a head when they discover just who is responsible for what happened to Penn's sister - and Church is forced to confront a past that he would rather forget.
